First B-segment Emgrand EC718 from Geely...Coming Soon in August in China

HANGZHOU, CHINA – July 29, 2009: According to the brand planning, the brand of Emgrand features with “luxury, steadiness and power”. As first model of Emgrand brand, EC718 shows active and dynamic appearance with simple and vivid shape. Comparing with Corolla, the wheelbase is prolonged by 50 mm, while the width is increased by 29 mm and the overall length is increased by 95 mm. it is the sedan with the longest wheelbase in Geely history. The model is equipped with brand-new 4G-N series D-CVVT gasoline engine to provide power with exhaust dual-variable valve timing system. The emission can meet Euro VI Standard.

EC718 is the first “global model” developed independently by Geely. It is regarded as the symbol for Geely strategy restructuring. Meeting the highest technical standard and strictest legal requirement, the model is designed according to European and America standard, completely considering the pedestrian protection, all-direction collision and material recovering, satisfying safety standards, emission standards and green certification standards. Famous DPECO from Korea is responsible for the design and development of this model while MAGNA STYER from Europe takes the task to approve it. Thus, this model takes the advantage of low cost that is the key feature of Japan and Korea model, as well as high quality requirement in European market with little risk of design.

EC718 will be put into production in Ningbo Base that provides 4 new special processing production lines. New production line adopts molds from Japan Fuji and painting line similar to Brilliance BMW with advanced international automation. As the first attempt in domestic, the painting factory will use 2-floor structure and waterborne painting to meet European environment protection standard. Now, EC718 is prepared for mass production. The insiders said that the hatchback of EC718, i. e. EC718-RV will be released soon in the future.

Recently, Geely has declared that first Emgrand model EC718, new advanced brand in Geely, is expected to be released into the market in August. Meanwhile, the brand activity will initiate formally.
