TULLAMARINE, AUSTRALIA – June 22, 2009: Honda Motor Co. has been implementing employee environmental initiatives and training programs for the past 18 years.

Since 1991, Honda has run the Japan Environmental Committee, which sets out to ensure all social concerns about the environment are addressed and environmental initiatives are executed to the highest standards.

Honda ensures all new staff undertake environmental training to better understand their responsibilities for environmental conservation as part of their job.

In Australia, Honda encourages environmental awareness and in recognition of World Environment Day on 5 June 2009, staff participated in a tree planting exercise at head office in Melbourne with assistance from the local council.

Honda Australia has strict environmental policies in place, in line with Honda’s worldwide stance to preserve the global environment and make every effort to contribute to human health through its governance guidelines.

“Honda Australia complies with ISO 14001 international standards and follows procedures that allow us to identify, control, monitor and improve our environmental risks. Minimising waste and pollution in all our operations together with water management, effective energy efficiency objectives and recycling programs play a strong part in reducing the company’s environmental footprint,” said Honda Australia’s Managing Director and CEO, Mr. Yasuhide Mizuno.

Honda Australia conducts regular environmental audits and assessments of compliance.
