Frost & Sullivan: Rising Demand for Comfort and Safety to Play the Pivotal Role in the Evolution of Automotive Human Machine Interface

LONDON – 22 June, 2009 – The modern car features a large number of applications, ranging from intuitive driver assist systems to comfort-enhancing applications. Current volatility in fuel costs has increased consumer demand both for small cars and for finest content in small cars. Intelligent electronics integration and innovative HMI will largely determine the future development of user-friendly vehicles.

The biggest challenge is to design and develop a simple, accessible, affordable and not distracting user interface. The location of the user interface and what kind of information it provides the driver depending on road conditions are the two main issues in the development of an efficient HMI. With many nomadic applications now present in the vehicle cabin, it is of fundamental importance to sensitize the driver to different interfaces and to adopt integrated functionality with appropriate solutions.

Frost & Sullivan will host a live briefing open to all on Tuesday, 30 June at 16.00 BST to discuss emerging trends and to provide forward projections for the European Automotive Human Machine Interface Market.

Highlights of the briefing include analyses of: European consumer perceptions, attitudes and willingness to pay for various systems, market trends and forecasts for various HMI systems and strategic recommendations to make the most out of this interesting market.

This briefing will benefit vehicle manufacturers, HMI component suppliers, display manufacturers, and navigation device suppliers to the European automotive market by discussing emerging trends and providing forward projections for the European Automotive Human Machine Interface Market.

“Navigation is the primary hub for most human machine interface systems including multi-functional switches, voice control and display technologies. Usability and affordability for these systems will be determining factors since most European consumers are not willing to pay a premium for these systems”, observes Frost & Sullivan Research Analyst, Aswin Kumar.
