Mid-Ohio June 20, 2009: The No. 10 SunTrust Ford Dallara of Wayne Taylor Racing driving duo of Max Angelelli and Brian Frisselle will start Saturday’s Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car Series EMCO Gears Classic from the outside of the second row after qualifying Friday afternoon at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in Lexington, Ohio.

Frisselle’s fast qualifying lap of 1 minute, 18.705 seconds (103.281 mph) this after around the 2.258-mile, 13-turn road circuit put the SunTrust Racing machine fourth on the grid among 32 car-and-driver combinations that will take the green flag for Saturday’s 2-hour, 45-minute race.

“It was pretty good, I guess. It’s the second row, but, at the same time, I’m really disappointed because I wanted to qualify on the front row,” said Frisselle, who with Angelelli is currently tied for first place in the Rolex Series championship standings with Chip Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates co-drivers Scott Pruett and Memo Rojas. “Unfortunately, our flow in qualifying kept getting messed up by some traffic, so I’m just a little bit disappointed. We should have a strong race tomorrow and we’ll try to get another good result.”

Jon Fogarty, co-driving the No. 99 Gainsco/Bob Stallings Racing Pontiac Riley with Alex Gurney and part of the only multiple race-winning duo so far this season, captured the Gainsco team’s first pole of the season and will start alongside Rojas on the front row.

“Considering this is our first time with the Dallara at Mid-Ohio, and Max really had almost no time in the car, it was a pretty good result,” said team owner Wayne Taylor. “It rained this morning, so we were chasing the track in practice. Brian did a good job in the afternoon practice, and then again in qualifying. He was third until the very last lap, so it’s going to be okay. We’ve got to keep thinking about the championship and it’s going to be a good fight. My concern about tomorrow is it’s going to be raining in the morning and we’re not going to be able to have much more time to get the car set up for the race. The amount of laps we’ve had today in practice is the total amount of laps we’ve ever run here with the Dallara. We’ll give it our best shot and hope the consistency we’ve been able to show the last several races continues.”
