MILTON KEYNES, UNITED KINGDOM – June 17, 2009: SEAT’s sleek Ibiza is today named as a winner in the prestigious British Insurance Car Security Awards (BICSA) presented by Thatcham, the Motor Industry Repair Research Centre, in Berkshire.

The Ibiza, in both 5dr and SC form, has come out tops in the hard-fought supermini class, in the process becoming SEAT’s first ever winner in the important national honours.

The awards, established in 2004, were set up to recognise those manufacturers who have produced the most secure cars, and to raise awareness among car buyers of what is best in vehicle security.

SEAT’s big-selling supermini, soon to be joined by a selection of stunning new high performance hot hatch variants including the concept car-inspired Ibiza Bocanegra, was awarded an impressive five stars out of five in Thatcham’s New Vehicle Security Register (NVSR) ‘Theft Of’ category, while the car secured a creditable four stars out of five in the ‘Theft From’ class, thereby making it eligible for consideration in BICSA.

Head of SEAT UK, Peter Wyhinny, said: ‘The new Ibiza range is, as expected, proving to be even more popular than its predecessor becoming in the process among the most desirable and sought-after cars in its class. To see the Ibiza secure such an impressive vote of confidence in its security is, therefore, very important.’
