SLOUGH, UNITED KINGDOM – June 17, 2009: Citroën has continued its record run at the British Insurance Vehicle Security Awards (BIVSA) with a further six awards received at the 2009 ceremony. Awards have been presented for models from both the car and van ranges, and Citroën was voted ‘Best Van Manufacturer’ overall. The latest honours mean Citroën has now won a total of 20 accolades since the awards were launched six years ago, an unprecedented achievement unrivalled by any other vehicle manufacturer.

Both the C6 and C4 Picasso Exclusive scored an awards hat-trick, picking up the top spots in the Executive and Compact MPV classes for the third year in a row, whilst the C5 Exclusive and C4 Exclusive continued their domination of the Family and Small Family car categories.

With the introduction of ‘Van’ classes for 2009, Citroën’s LCV range was also honoured with the C-Crosser Enterprise winning the 4x4 category and, thanks to the high standard of security across Citroën’s entire van range, the Company was also awarded the ‘Best Van Manufacturer’ Award. Committed to providing reassuringly secure transport for commercial vehicle drivers and operators, Citroën’s Smartnav package is offered as standard across most of Citroën’s van range and includes stolen vehicle tracking to locate the vehicle in case of theft. This is in addition to a host of available features to deter thieves, such as deadlocks, immobilisers and alarm systems. The C-Crosser Enterprise is also fitted with protective side windows panels to guard against ‘smash and grab’ opportunists.

Citroën’s use of laminated glass on more of its cars than any other manufacturer has helped keep the Company at the top of the BIVSA awards list. The glass and plastic film construction enables the vehicle windows to maintain their integrity, even after numerous blows, keeping occupants and contents safe and secure.

Gary Savage, Managing Director of Citroën UK Ltd, commented: “Citroën’s unrivalled success at these prestigious awards is a fantastic acknowledgement of our efforts in producing some of the safest and most secure vehicles on the market today. A continuing dedication to developing and improving our security technology, in both Citroën’s car and van ranges, will ensure customers not only benefit from a wide choice of award-winning, reassuringly secure vehicles, but also the satisfaction of money-saving, low insurance ratings.”
