TOPEKA, June 16, 2009: Round Three of the SCCA Pro Racing SPEED World Challenge Championships will air today, June 16, at 2 p.m. (EDT) on SPEED.

World Challenge GT opens the one-hour program from New Jersey Motorsports Park with Andy Pilgrim and the No. 8 K-PAX Racing Volvo S60 on pole. It’s an all-Volvo front row with teammate Randy Pobst in the No. 1 K-PAX Racing Volvo S60 starting second. After being caught moving too soon at the start, Pobst is sent to pit lane for a stop-and-go penalty. Lady luck appears to be on Volvo’s side, however, as the rain begins to fall mid-way through the 30-lap race. Will the Volvo’s be able to use the slick track to their all-wheel drive advantage? Tune in to SPEED to see if the Swedish marque can get its first win of 2009.

Next up, it’s World Challenge Touring Car at Mosport International Raceway, part one of a double-race weekend. Rookie Eric Foss earns his first-career World Challenge pole and places his No. 75 MAZDASPEED/Stoptech/Racinghart MAZDA6 at the front of the grid, but gets a terrible start, enabling Canadian Kuno Wittmer to lead the field into Turn One. Driving the No. 44 Acura/RealTime/Red Line Acura TSX, Wittmer immediately begins to pull away on the damp course, shifting attention away from the leader and to the battle for second between Wittmer’s brother Nick in the No. 45 Acura/RealTime/Red Line Oil Acura TSX, Jason Saini in the No. 74 MAZDASPEED/Stoptech/Racinghart MAZDA6 and Pierre Kleinubing in the No. 42 Acura/RealTime/Red Line Oil Acura TSX. Make sure your TV is set to SPEED to see if anyone can claim the runner-up spot in time to chase down Wittmer.
