Millville, June 12, 2009: Current Atlantic Championship Markus Niemela produced a significant wet session qualifying result for tomorrow's Mazda Formula X Atlantic feature event. After running in the top-3 much of the session Niemela finally popped up to P1, but subsequently found himself in traffic he couldn't overcome in the session's later stages.

"Today was my pole but I couldn't close the deal," Markus said. "The car was really good, and I was getting faster throughout the session. But I got hung up in traffic and couldn't get a clear lap at the end. Tomorrow is supposed to be dry and the car is very good, so I believe that we'll be able to generate a good result"
