Hughes Telematics Wins 2009 International Telematics Award

ATLANTA--Hughes Telematics, Inc. (HTI), a leader in providing next generation telematics solutions, today announced that its in-Drive AT-500 device has been honored with the 2009 Best Aftermarket Device award at the Telematics Update conference in Detroit, Michigan. The award celebrates the aftermarket product that has shown the best feature and service innovation in the telematics field. HTI was selected by a panel of top industry experts and analysts.

“This award validates the hard work and dedication put forth by our entire team to build a truly innovative aftermarket solution,” said Fred Blumer, vice president of aftermarket and data services, HTI. “As the aftermarket telematics industry continues to flourish and expand, we are equipped to remain at the forefront of developing solutions that will continue to empower drivers.”

HTI continues to innovate applications and services for aftermarket vehicles. The in-Drive AT-500 is its first aftermarket consumer telematics solution, offering services such as locating a stolen vehicle, deciphering check-engine lights, evaluating real-time MPG and emissions, generating data for usage-based insurance, utilizing two-way emergency calling and monitoring family driving.

“This recognition from Telematics Update confirms our successful emergence into the consumer aftermarket sector,” said Erik Goldman, president, HTI. “The in-Drive AT-500 leverages HTI’s rich portfolio of technology and Next Generation Telematics Architecture to provide unprecedented connectivity for vehicles on an aftermarket basis in the consumer space. This device allows HTI to expand our reach beyond embedded telematics and our existing aftermarket fleet business, and work with organizations such as insurance agencies, auto clubs and wireless carriers to offer their customers the benefits of a connected vehicle.”
