New Global Automotive Industry, North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) Prepare for 2010 in Detroit

Detroit, MI - May 26, 2009 - The tongue-in-cheek phrase "predictable as Michigan weather" is a good way to describe the rollercoaster known as the global automotive economy. But for 2010, economic forecasters have at least one haven to view what's on the horizon: NAIAS - one of the world's premiere automotive and consumer events - will take place at Detroit's Cobo Center Jan. 11-24, 2010.

With a combination of buzz generated by the 2009 NAIAS and an auto industry reinventing itself daily, it promises to be a very exciting 2010. When the world's auto industry - including suppliers, manufacturers and consumers - converge once again in Detroit this January, there will be plenty to learn about emerging players and those new products that will take us into the next decade.

"We have a great show coming to Cobo this January," said Doug Fox, NAIAS Senior Co-Chair. "Key individuals in the industry have told us they were extremely pleased by what was achieved at the 2009 NAIAS despite the worldwide economic challenges. The world is once again relying on the NAIAS as a forum to navigate changes, not just from the auto industry, but the global economy it affects."

Fox indicated the 2009 NAIAS brought nearly 5,500 international journalists to Detroit to witness and cover more than 50 product reveals. In addition, more than 650,000 consumers visited the NAIAS during Public Days. Also in 2009, with support from the State of Michigan, through the Michigan Economic Development Corporation's (MEDC) EcoXperience in Michigan Hall, the show added displays and environmentally friendly ride and drives that propelled NAIAS to new heights. More features and elements to the 2010 NAIAS will be announced in the coming months.

"We are looking forward to keeping our benchmark status on the international show circuit," Fox said. "Our 2010 show is going to be another milestone as well as another opportunity to illustrate what our city is all about and how this vital industry impacts the world."
