SLOUGH, UNITED KINGDOM – May 21, 2009: The new Citroën Berlingo range has just won the Best New Van and Best Light Van awards in the 2009 Van Fleet World Honours, announced in London today (20 May 2009). The new Berlingo convinced the judges of its winning status thanks to its unique range of operational, financial, comfort and safety benefits, which enabled it to overcome strong opposition from rival products.

Robert Handyside, Commercial Vehicle Operations Manager, comments, “Citroën is delighted with the Berlingo gaining both the Best New Van and Best Light Van awards in the 2009 Van Fleet World Honours. These Honours are recognition of the Berlingo’s unique package. No other light van range available in the UK is able to match the Berlingo’s strength in depth – a fact that is reflected by its healthy UK sales.”

Providing flexibility and versatility, the new Berlingo is available with two trim levels, three engines and two vehicle lengths in an 11-model range, which includes a unique platform cab model. Maximum Berlingo payloads rise to 850kg and the larger of the two new Berlingo models has a load compartment volume of 3.7cu.m (4.1cu.m with Extenso® option).

Citroën’s innovative, modular Extenso cabin is standard on Berlingo LX vans and allows the outer passenger seat to be folded away enabling lengths of pipe/conduit/timber of 3.0m (L1) or 3.25m (L2) long, dependent on model, to be carried. The Extenso seat provides seating for a driver and two passengers for occasional use.

The outer passenger seat can also be configured so that its seat cushion can be raised vertically against the seat back, to enable tall items to be carried on the cab floor next to the driver. With the Extenso cabin, the load space of new Berlingo is increased by 0.4cu.m to give a total load volume of 3.7cu.m for the L1 and 4.1cu.m for the L2 model.

In a first for this sector of the LCV market all Berlingo vans, with the exception of the 625 L1 X 1.6i, are fitted with Trafficmaster Smartnav and Trackstar stolen vehicle tracking as standard.

In addition to the standard range, to further increase the versatility of the new Berlingo, it is also available in a number of unique, competitively priced Citroën Ready to Run conversions, including dual fuel (petrol/LPG), temperature controlled and glass carrying vans.

The new Berlingo range, with current customer offers, is priced from just £7,995 + VAT + delivery.
