QUEENSLAND, AUSTRALIA – May 18, 2009: Honda Australia would like to congratulate Scott Duncan from Peter Roberts Honda in Queensland, who was awarded ‘Technician of the Year’ and Christopher White from Col Crawford Motors who was awarded ‘Apprentice of the Year’.

Honda Australia conducts an annual, national competition for all Honda service technicians and apprentices to showcase their skills, which are recognised and rewarded by Honda Australia.

Honda’s Technical Training Department devises three rounds of twenty questions using information from workshop manuals, training materials, diagnostic equipment and other technical information to test the knowledge and competency of its service technicians and apprentices.

Prizes are sent to those who achieve high scores after round one and two in order to encourage their continued participation into round three.

A ‘top ten’ is then selected and flown to the National Training Centre in Melbourne to compete in five exam modules – four practical skills and one theory exam covering the latest technology in Honda vehicles.

The 2008 presentation dinner was held at the Melbourne Airport Hilton where Honda Australia’s Managing Director and CEO Mr. Yasuhide Mizuno and Senior Director Mr. Lindsay Smalley presented the winners with their prizes.

Mr. Mizuno said that he is proud of all the participants and their enthusiasm and dedication to their jobs was outstanding. “At Honda, we pride ourselves on the highest levels of customer service and the on-going training of our technicians ensures customer’s vehicles are kept in the best condition possible.”
