MARTORELL, SPAIN – May 13, 2009: SEAT is the first car manufacturer to carry out electronic technical vehicle inspection (ITV) and telematic registration of 6 Exeo units. The project, developed by Spain’s Directorate General for Traffic (DGT) together with the Ministry of Industry, Tourism and Trade, in collaboration with the company T-Systems Iberia, was presented today by Mr. Pere Navarro, Director of the DGT at an event organized by the Automotive Technicians Association (Spanish STA).

Thus the Spanish car manufacturer yet again takes the lead in a project of the future: electronic registration in Spain. “SEAT has carried out the entire process electronically, starting with the initial inscription of the technical vehicle inspection card (ITV) up to the final process of obtaining a registration number”, states José Mª Romeu, head of Current Accounts and Invoicing at SEAT.

The main advantage of the project lies in the improvement of procedures between car manufacturers and official administration, doing away with the need for the generation and exchange of paper documentation as well as errors in data transcription. It also reduces the time needed to register a vehicle.

Thanks to this system, the car manufacturer sends the vehicle’s chassis number to the administration – including technical details – and the registration number of the car is issued directly telematically, thus doing away with laborious processes and paperwork.

The SEAT Exeo, already available as a sedan with the estate car version to be launched in June, offers ideal conditions, since it is positioned as one of the most advanced models in its category, combining luxury and comfort with the traditional philosophy of sportiness which characterizes all the brand’s models.
