DETROIT - May 1, 2009: The technology behind the Chevrolet Volt, likely to be the first mass-produced electric car, was recently test-driven by a group of journalists. Since electric cars can be noticeably different, the goal was to make the driving experience the same as conventional gas powered vehicles and not feel like a science project. Chevrolet hopes to have the Volt on the road sometime in 2010.
