Industrial Mover Lawson Drayage, Inc. Introduces Zero-Emissions Fleet

HAYWARD, Calif.--Lawson Drayage, Inc., a Northern California leader in industrial moving, announced today the addition of four new “zero-emissions” trucks to their existing “zero-emissions” rigging and heavy transportation fleet.

Lawson’s new “green” trucks are equipped with state-of-the-art “diesel emission control systems” that eliminate all carbon emissions from reaching the air through the exhaust. The fleet also boasts the newest aerodynamic truck models, featuring dramatically sloped hoods, swept-back fenders and fuel-efficient tires. In addition, their existing trucks have been retrofitted with the latest “diesel particulate filters” (DPF) making the entire fleet carbon-free.

“This new addition to our significant transport fleet puts us miles ahead of other movers in our industry,” says George Lawson, President & CEO. “Not only are we the first to offer a ”zero-emission” relocation service, we are the first in Northern California to be compliant with the California Air Resources Board Zero-Emissions Program, and that’s very important to us!”

According to the California Air Resources Board (CARB), heavy-duty big rigs are the largest remaining source of unregulated diesel emissions, responsible for 32 percent of the smog-forming emissions from diesel mobile sources (other diesel emitters include trains, off-road vehicles and marine engines). There are over 500,000 trailers, 400,000 heavy-duty vehicles and 500,000 out-of-state vehicles that do business in California.

In addition, diesel emissions are associated with cancer and exacerbate cardiovascular and respiratory ailments. The truck regulation program is expected to save 9,400 lives between 2011 and 2025, and greatly reduce health care costs. These benefits have an estimated value of $48 billion to $69 billion. CARB is not requiring complete compliance of its aggressive emissions program until 2014, which makes Lawson an early adaptor of this green effort. The company’s new slogan, “Go Green With Lawson Blue” reinforces their commitment to being a leader in green trucking.
