Full Slate of Announcements on Policy Issues, Plus Impact on the New Congress

Washington, January 23, 2009: Administration and the Automotive Industry

What: The 2009 Washington Auto Show, "Driven by the Environment," will unite major automotive stakeholders and manufacturers with the nation's policy makers and lawmakers for Public Policy Day, offering discussion and news on the pressing issues surrounding the nation's automotive industry. In addition to Jacoby's remarks, which will be introduced by The Washington Automotive Press Association, the agenda will include leaders from the major industry associations, including the Alliance of Automobile Manufacturers, Association of International Automobile Manufacturers (AIAM), Motor & Equipment Manufacturers Association (MEMA) and National Automobile Dealers Association (NADA), plus a host of announcements on topics including production and distribution, new technologies, alternative fuels and government regulations.

Public Policy Day attendees also are invited to join auto industry leaders as they host members of Congress, government leaders, diplomats and media for a Preview Reception of current and future automobile models on display before The Washington Auto Show officially opens to the public.

Announcements and Presentations on Tues. Feb. 3 include:

-- Breakfast, sponsored by Mazda featuring remarks by Norman Y. Mineta, former Secretary of Transportation and current Vice Chairman, Hill & Knowlton, Inc.

-- Stakeholder announcement of major automotive associations: The Auto Alliance, NADA, AIAM and AIADA, NAMAD and MEMA

-- Lunch, sponsored by Toyota, featuring remarks by Irv Miller, Group Vice President, Corporate Communications and Environmental and Public Affairs

-- Manufacturer announcements and policy briefings on alternative fuel models, advanced technologies, electric cars, and the latest energy and "green" advancements

-- U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA): Margo T. Oge, Director, Office of Transportation and Air Quality

-- The Green Car Vision Award(TM) from The Green Car Journal
