ATLANTA January 5, 2009: Porsche Cars North America, Inc. (PCNA), importer and distributor of Porsche sports cars and Cayenne SUVs in the United States, today announced December sales in the U.S. of 2,154 units compared to the same period last year when it sold a record-setting 2,891 new vehicles. Despite a continuing dismal automotive market, Porsche’s December sales were considerably higher than just one month ago when it sold 1,378 cars.

Porsche concluded a challenging calendar year 2008 with total sales of 26,035 units, 25 percent below last year’s all-time sales record of 34,693 in the United States. While both mid-engine and 911 sports car sales were about one-third lower than in the previous year due to the combination of eroding consumer confidence and model change overs, the Cayenne range of high-end SUVs essentially held their own with sales off just 11 percent from a record 2007.

For the month of December, Porsche’s Approved Certified Pre-Owned vehicles continued to grow with sales of 454, compared to 526 for the same period last year. For the year, Porsche sold 6,733 CPO cars versus 6,579 in 2007.
