TORQUAY, UK – December 12, 2008: Daihatsu have found its biggest admirers in Sheila & Phil Scott (known locally as Mr & Mrs Christmas) from Torquay.

Whilst on holiday in America they saw a funky-looking car and fell in love with it, never imagining they would ever be able to own one. Following their return to England and looking to replace their current model, they couldn’t believe their eyes when they saw an ad for their beloved car, now on sale in the UK – the Daihatsu Materia. Once inside the distinctive, mini-MPV they fell in love all over again!

The couple’s fund-raising activities are very well known, particularly at Christmas, raising thousands of pounds for Goa’s destitute children. The couple were bowled over by the Materia’s sliding and reclining rear seats, making it an ideal car for transporting presents for all their fund raising fun.

After placing an order with their dealer, Highweek Garage, Newton Abbott, the pressing priority was to select a colour as distinctive as they are – and chose Lamborghini Mauve 30!

Their local spray shop, PPI of Newton Abbott, who in their own words thought them quite potty, completed the job in two weeks. When the happy couple picked up their newly sprayed vehicle, they couldn’t wait to show it off.

Following many months of hassle-free motoring, the funky Materia is a familiar sight in the region as Mr & Mrs Christmas go about their busy lives.

The couple said: “Our excellent deal with Daihatsu have made us two very happy motorists. We have the whole package – reliability, friendly and excellent service from Highweek, great build quality, five-year warranty and a great looking car. We wouldn’t buy anything else.”

Daihatsu Materia’s prices start at £10,770 for the manual and £11,550 for the automatic, with a five-year-warranty available on all models.
