Ogden, UT December 10, 2008: Edge Products’ Evolution programmer received special recognition at the 2008 SEMA show in Las Vegas as a winner of the SEMA/Auto Club of Southern California Fuel Economy Challenge, proving you don’t have to give up performance to get good fuel economy. Over 15 SEMA member companies submitted powertrain products for independent testing offered by the Auto Club of Southern California to determine their effect on fuel economy. The Edge Evolution programmer was shown to provide a significant fuel economy improvement. Winning products were announced during a press conference on Wednesday of the show and displayed in SEMA’s “Making Green Cool Zone.”

The Evolution was submitted for testing on a 2004-2008 Ford F-150 16-valve 5.4L V8 pickup, which was put through fuel economy and emissions testing at the Automobile Club of Southern California Automotive Research Center (ARC) in Diamond Bar, CA, and acceleration tests at the Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, CA by Steve Mazor, ARC’s Technical Director.

Similar to Edge’s other Evolution programmers, the 2004-2008 Ford F-150 5.4L unit comes with four standard power levels, quickly changes power levels, functions as a full diagnostic tool, and stays mounted in the cab to provide real-time monitoring of the truck’s vital engine information. Best of all, it comes with a custom pod designed to integrate with the truck’s dash at no extra cost.

The Evolution provides the 2004-2008 Ford F-150 5.4L with gains of up to 35 hp and 50 ft-lbs of torque at its peak. It also includes the special mileage tune designed specifically to improve fuel economy. Advanced tuning features include the ability to recalibrate the speed signal to show true road speed if the truck runs non-stock tires, and adjustment of the factory speed limiter. The Evolution also features performance testing – 0-60 and quarter-mile times with drag-strip Christmas tree lighting and reaction times. The custom software in the unit can be updated via the Internet and includes a USB cable.
