COVENTRY, United Kingdom – December 5, 2008: Peugeot’s 308 SW can transport five skiers and their luggage all the way to Chamonix on a tank full of fuel Peugeot reminds drivers of the new legislation when driving in France

With the demands on the family car becoming more and more varied choosing the right vehicle should also take into consideration the annual “holiday” trip.

As more families travel by car for their annual skiing holiday, Peugeot’s 308 SW could be the perfect choice to help reduce the strain on the family budget and transport the whole family safely to their destination.

With its five individual seats and 1031 litres of luggage space, both the family and their luggage can easily be accommodated. But more importantly it will not break the family budget as its 13.2 gallon tank, and when powered by Peugeot’s class leading HDi 110 bhp diesel engine, can transport the whole family over 600 miles on a single tank full of fuel. This is the equivalent to travelling from London to Chamonix in France for only £68*, considerably cheaper than any equivalent air flight.

And it won’t be melting the snowcaps either due to its CO2 emissions of just 139 g/km, or 28g per person.

Christian Stein, marketing director at Peugeot UK, said: “For many people, choosing the right car is now even more difficult due to the ‘credit crunch’. Yet, thanks to its great fuel economy, space for the whole family and their luggage, the Peugeot 308 SW is the perfect family car whether it’s for everyday family activities or the annual holiday trips, and it won’t break the family budget.”

France still remains the most popular choice for UK skiers according to the Ski Club of Great Britain’s latest Snow Sports report and around 14% of people opt to drive to their destination.

With that in mind, Peugeot would also like to remind drivers of recent changes to the rules governing driving on French roads.

“New rules that came into effect on 1st October this year mean it is now compulsory for all occupants of a vehicle to have a high-visibility, reflective jacket and a warning triangle in their vehicle at all times – or face a fine of up to 135 Euros,” added Christian. “This is in addition to previous advice to carry your driving licence, vehicle insurance and registration documents together with spare bulbs, headlamp beam deflectors and a first aid kit.”
