Subaru Forester Wins Top Award in the Compact Utility Vehicle Category and the Subaru Brand Ranks Second-Highest in Residual Value

CHERRY HILL, N.J., November 20, 2008: Subaru of America, Inc. today announced that it has received Residual Value Awards from Automotive Lease Guide (ALG). The 2009 Subaru Forester won the top award in the Compact Utility Vehicle category, while the Subaru brand collected an award as the second-highest brand for residual value.

ALG's 10th annual Residual Value Awards, for the 2009 model year, honored the vehicles in each industry segment that ALG predicts will retain the highest percentage of their original price after a conventional three-year lease term.

ALG determines the award winners after carefully studying the competition in each segment, historical vehicle performance and industry trends. Vehicle quality, production levels relative to demand, and pricing strategies are among the key factors that affect ALG's residual value forecasts. The complete list of this year's awards can be found on ALG.

"This is exciting news for Subaru of America," said Tomohiko Ikeda, chairman, president and CEO for Subaru of America, Inc. "Winning second across the industry in terms of ALG predicted value reinforces the attributes of the Subaru brand -- durability, reliability and safety -- all at a great value."

"The secret about Subaru is getting out -- thanks to a streak of wins anchored by the Motor Trend Sport/Utility of the Year Award for the 2009 Forester and Kelly Blue Book naming Subaru as one of the top Resale Value Brands of 2009," said Tom Doll, executive vice president for Subaru of America, Inc. "Subaru sales being up in a down market underscores the fact that the news is getting to customers about our vehicles."

"We believe Residual Value remains the best metric for evaluating the overall strength of an automotive brand, and we congratulate Subaru for the proven success," said John Blair, Chief Executive Officer of Automotive Lease Guide.
