No Price Increase For 2009 smart fortwo in Canada

TORONTO, ON - smart Canada today announced that pricing will remain virtually identical to 2008 for the 2009 smart fortwo coupés and fortwo cabriolet. Launched in 2008, the new generation smart fortwo has set even greater safety and ecology standards for the car that has been enthusiastically embraced by Canadians since the brand was first launched in Canada in late 2004. For 2009, the smart fortwo continues to be offered in three models.

The pure coupé starts from $14,990 and includes standard comfort and convenience features such as a 5-speed automatic transmission with manual shift mode, central remote locking system, 2-spoke leather steering wheel, power windows, CD player and more.

The stylish and well-equipped passion coupé starts from $18,250 and adds a panoramic roof, alloy wheels, air conditioning with climate control, 3-spoke leather steering wheel with shift paddles, power windows, power steering, heated seats, and an upgraded stereo with sound package.

For those looking for top down fun, the passion cabriolet starts from $21,250 and includes all of the features of the passion coupé and a fully automatic soft top with a heated rear glass window.

The smart fortwo measures just 2.69 metres and is one of the most economical cars on the road today achieving an enviable fuel consumption of 5.4 litres/100km combined for city and highway driving. Despite its compact size, the smart offers occupants a very high level of safety. Standard safety features include a tridion safety cell, anti-lock brakes, electronic brake force distribution, esp®, brake assist, advanced seats with integral seat belts, full-size driver and passenger airbags, and head/thorax side airbags.
