AUTO CENTRAL – October 8, 2008: Audi Australia will launch several new models within the next 12 months to ensure customers can benefit from the Australian Government’s new ‘green car’ exemption from the Luxury Car Tax legislation.

Among the models under review for Australian buyers are a new 2.0 TDI variant for the Audi TT Coupe range, two new A6 TDI models and a new A4 Avant 2.7 TDI variant. The A5 3.0 TDI quattro which is arriving in November also benefits from the new legislation.

Audi’s Joerg Hofmann says the brand is very committed to TDI technology on a global scale, and for Australia, and the new tax exemptions mean that customers can benefit from lower prices for more fuel-efficient models.

“TDI technology is the right technology for today’s Australian consumer,” Mr Hofmann said.

“Audi was actually the first premium brand in Australia to introduce TDI variants into every major model line.

“It is efficient, clean, thanks to standard diesel particulate filters, and carries none of the negatives of the diesels of old.

“We can also now pass on significant savings to customers thanks to the Government’s new exemption clause for vehicles which consume less than 7 litres of fuel per 100 km, and are priced at or below $75,000.

“This presents us with an ideal opportunity to introduce new models and newer, more efficient technology which Audi has been developing for almost 30 years as part of a ‘progressive performance’ strategy.”
