Goodyear Awarded Long-Term Contract with New York City Transit

AKRON, Ohio, Oct. 7, 2008 - The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company announced today that it has been awarded a seven-year contract to supply tires and business solutions to New York City Transit, the nation's largest transit bus fleet.

Goodyear will supply New York City Transit, an agency of the Metropolitan Transportation Authority of the State of New York, with a variety of bus tires and tire services. Goodyear has been the supplier of bus tires and service to New York City Transit since 1987.

Joseph Copeland, Goodyear vice president of commercial tire systems, said, "This is an important contract for Goodyear, retaining the largest transit bus fleet in North America. Moreover, it is a tremendous vote of confidence in our products and the service provided by our Goodyear associates in the depots every day."

New York City Transit operates a bus fleet of more than 5,900 vehicles, has annual ridership of over 700 million, and more than 12,000 bus stops.
