AUBURN HILLS, Mich., Oct. 3, 2008 - The following is a statement regarding Congress' support of the Economic Stabilization Act attributed to Robert Nardelli, Chairman and CEO:

We congratulate Congressman Joe Knollenberg of Michigan for his leadership and courage in voting for the Economic Stabilization Act and convincing other members of Congress to vote yes on the bill.

Congressman Knollenberg played a leadership role to ensure that this bill provides Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson and the Federal Reserve with the authority to address the automotive credit liquidity problem and to help stimulate car and truck sales across the country.

These actions will help put us on a path to recovery and help secure the future for people in Michigan and across the country.

We express our appreciation to Congress for acting to stabilize the credit crisis at this time, and we also thank them for their support in the extension of important tax bills that will help our R&D at a critical time for our economy.
