High Pressure For Top Visibility

LIPPSTADT – October 1, 2008: Soiled headlights provide significantly less light and visible range. And they dazzle. Because the dirt disturbs the optical characteristics of the lighting system. The headlight cleaning system remedies the problem. Those who buy a car with Xenon light automatically get a headlight cleaning system. Yet such a system should be ordered for halogen headlights, too. The small additional price is certainly worth paying. Because clean headlights increase safety in road traffic. In autumn and winter in particular, the dreary wet weather causes the vehicle's "eyes" to soil quickly. Half an hour driving along a wet and dirty road is more than enough. Then you lose around 35 metres of visible range. In other words, the low beam range is halved, stopping distance to obstacles is dangerously shortened. This has been proved by studies carried out at Darmstadt Polytechnic.

Those without a headlight cleaning system have to get out and clean the lights. This is not a pleasant task in wet and windy weather, and makes hands and clothes dirty. And after a few miles, your headlights need cleaning all over again.

Life is much more convenient for those who do have a headlight cleaning system. They just do not have to think about the subject at all. The system usually works automatically together with the windscreen washer system. The headlights are always cleaned as well as the windscreen whenever the lights are switched on. That saves water. The cleaning effect is amazing. Today's systems use high pressure. The water jet is sprayed out of the nozzle at up to 4 bar, and thus removes almost any kind of dirt. The system works in a similar way to high-pressure jet cleaners.

Modern systems have a further advantage over cleaning by hand. They go easy on the headlight surface. These days, this surface is usually made of plastic. These plastic cover lenses are much lighter and more robust than glass lenses, but sensitive to harsh cleaning methods. The money spent on a headlight cleaning system is definitely well invested.
