WASHINGTON D.C., August 27, 2008 - The Financial Services Roundtable, a trade association representing 100 of the largest integrated financial services companies, has named GMAC Financial Services "Company of the Week" for its contributions to the Community Service 2008 project.

The Financial Services Roundtable specifically recognized GMAC for its role in hosting two financial literacy workshops in New York on Aug. 9 and 23. The seminars included information and lessons on homeownership, foreclosure prevention, money management and entrepreneurship. About 200 people took part in the workshops.

"We're honored to be named Company of the Week by the Financial Services Roundtable," said Sharon Belton, GMAC director of community relations. "As a financial institution it is our responsibility to provide the community with the education and tools they need to make smart decisions about their finances."

GMAC is devoted to educating consumers. Through its SmartEdge program - which includes seminars, online efforts and community outreach - GMAC provides a curriculum including credit, budgeting, vehicle and home financing, banking, and insurance. In 2007, SmartEdge took part in more than 2,300 events, reaching more than 1 million consumers.
