MONTERY HISTORIC AUTOMOBILE RACES KICK OFF

The 35th Rolex Monterey Historic Automobile Races presented by Toyota launched an action-packed weekend of events this morning with a series of qualifying races and an autograph session with Mario Andretti, this year’s guest of honor. Andretti also performed special demonstration laps in his Formula One Championship winning Lotus 79 and the Ferrari Historic Challenge Groups took the track to round out the day.

Andretti will conduct another autograph signing session at the Rolex tent in the paddock area on Saturday from 11 a.m. – 12 p.m. Fans can also meet legendary F1 drivers Danny Sullivan, Derek Bell, John Watson, Eddie Cheever, Johnny Herbert, Jean-Pierre Jarier, Alan Jones, and Patrick Tambay at the Race of Legends compound in the expo area on Saturday from 10 a.m. – 11 a.m.

Along with the autograph signings, fans can enjoy a variety of historic automobile races, visit the Rolex “Moments in Time” display, watch current F1 driver Timo Glock compete against F1 legends in the Toyota “Race of Legends,” and explore the enhanced consumer expo complete with interactive exhibits and a light-sport aircraft prototype.

The Rolex Monterey Historics are taking place at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, Friday – Sunday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day.
