Epner Technology Laser Gold Stops Heat from DiMora's 1200-Horsepower Volcano V16 Engine

$2 million Natalia sport luxury sedan uses technology developed by Epner for NASA space missions

NEW YORK, Aug. 4 -- Epner Technology Inc. is the high-tech engineering electroplating firm whose work orbits Mars on NASA spacecraft. It is now a Technology Partner with DiMora Motorcar, using the same Laser Gold system to reflect engine heat in the $2 million Natalia SLS 2 sport luxury sedan.

Most automobiles use a metal firewall to insulate the passenger compartment from the heat generated by the engine. Instead, the Natalia firewall will be a lightweight composite fiber panel. This will be covered with the Epner protective film that features a pure gold surface on the engine side. The gold reflects infrared heat away from the passenger compartment.

At one-third the thickness of a human hair, Laser Gold coated foil forms a virtually impenetrable barrier to the blistering heat generated by the 1200-horsepower Volcano engine. It combines the high infrared reflectivity of pure gold with the hardness of an alloy.

"Composites are sensitive to heat degradation," says David Epner, President of Epner Technology. "Pure gold is long known to be a fine infrared heat reflector, but it is also extremely fragile. By creating a tightly packed nano crystal in an electro-chemical cell, our engineers have overcome this serious drawback."

"NASA engineers approached us some 20 years ago to develop a rugged infrared mirror coating for the upcoming Mars mission," continued Epner. "Our Laser Gold coating on the Mars Observer Laser Altimeter Mirror has been orbiting Mars for many years now."

"Laser Gold is the perfect solution to our heat isolation challenge," said DiMora Motorcar Founder and CEO Alfred DiMora. "It allows us to use this incredibly strong yet very lightweight panel as our firewall. Natalia is the diamond of luxury automobiles. 24-carat gold is a natural fit."

About Epner Technology

Headquartered in Brooklyn, New York, Epner Technology, Inc., is a high-tech, precious metal and specification electroplating company. For nearly 20 years, it has been the only company to meet the NIST IR Reflectance Standard #2000, using its proprietary Laser Gold process.

About DiMora Motorcar

Based in Palm Springs, California, DiMora Motorcar crafts automobiles designed to exceed expectations for safety, performance, technology, ecology, beauty, comfort, and luxury. We are the first to reveal the design, production, and testing of our automobiles via the Internet so that people around the world can learn about-and participate in-the process.

The founder, CEO, and driving force behind DiMora Motorcar, Alfred J. DiMora, produced two of America's finest luxury automobiles, the Clenet (as owner) and the Sceptre (as co-founder). When President Reagan declared 1986 the Centennial Year of the Gasoline-Powered Automobile, Mr. DiMora's Clenet was selected as the Official Centennial Car. As a result, he and the Clenet were honored at the Automotive Hall of Fame in Michigan. He also founded Starbridge Systems, Inc., where he developed the FPGA supercomputer.
