PARIS – July 25, 2008: Citroën has picked up even more accolades for its environmental credentials after winning two honours at the inaugural What Car? Green Awards. The family-friendly Grand C4 Picasso received the ‘Green MPV of the Year’ award whilst the new executive C5 was named ‘Green Family Car of the Year.’

These latest awards are further endorsement of the Company’s dedication to manufacturing environmentally responsible vehicles. Already in 2008 Citroën has been named ‘Best Green Manufacturer’ at What Diesel magazine’s awards as well as receiving the ‘Outstanding Achievement’ award at the European Greenfleet Awards, whilst the Company has been named Greenfleet’s ‘Car manufacturer of the Year’ for two years running.

The recently launched C5 won against competition from the Mazda 6 and the Ford Mondeo, with the 1.6HDi VTR+ model’s efficient and economical diesel unit, achieving low CO2 emissions of just 149g/km and combined fuel economy of 50mpg. The Grand C4 Picasso 1.6HDi SX won, in part, thanks to its Electronic Gearbox System that helps boost the fuel economy to 50mpg.

Editor of What Car? magazine, Steve Fowler commented, “Citroën’s Grand C4 Picasso and new C5 were fully deserving of these green awards. Citroën has a growing reputation for producing cars with solid environmental credentials, but that offer comfort, convenience and quality, too.”

The Company’s award-winning range of environmentally friendly vehicles will be displayed on the Citroën stand (S11) at the British International Motor Show from 22nd July to the 3rd August where their radical environmental concept car, the C-Cactus, will also be making its UK premiere
