AutoSoft International, the third-largest dealer management system provider and one of just four certified GM Integrated Dealer Management System (IDMS) providers, said today it had completed its 400th GM dealership integration for GM Parts Workbench and its on target to have all of its 600 GM dealership users added by month’s end.

GM Parts Workbench is a web-based General Motors communications and parts ordering interface between dealers and the factory. It is replacing a satellite-based system, GM Remote Automated Parts Input for Dealers (RAPID). RAPID is being inactivated at the end of the month.

AutoSoft was the prime developer for the GM Parts Workbench integration software, which has since been released to other GM-IDMS providers for work with their customers. Steven Lust Automotive, a Cadillac, Buick, Chevrolet, Pontiac, GMC dealership in Aberdeen, SD, has participated in pilot testing of the AutoSoft-GM Parts Workbench interface for the last 60 days. Jeff Olson, parts manager, said the transition from RAPID to Parts Workbench has been mostly seamless.

“AutoSoft has addressed any concerns immediately and has been quick to rewrite code to ensure that Parts Workbench worked as designed with GM,” Olson said.

Not all functionality of the RAPID system will be available to GM dealers at month’s end, regardless of who their DMS provider, but is expected to be by year’s end. In the meantime, dealers will access the few missing functionalities using the EPIC application in GM DealerWorld.

“That’s no big deal, as GM’s DealerWorld portal is easily accessible,” Olson said, “but I’ll be glad when Parts Workbench is 100 percent.”

AutoSoft COO Charlie Profit said the company is on schedule to add all of its 600 GM dealership customers to Parts Workbench by the transition date.
