Newquay, UK- July 04, 2008: Suzuki heads West this weekend for a UK round of the King of the Groms European surfing series at Newquay’s Fistral beach. The event is part of a packed summer calendar of surf and skate events hosted by Suzuki in partnership with the global lifestyle and sports brand Quiksilver.

True to Suzuki’s youthful Way of Life ethos, the King of the Groms competition focuses on young talent, giving juniors under 16 the chance to demonstrate their surf skills. The series of 10 events across Europe will culminate in a final at Capbreton in France at the end of July.

The link-up between Suzuki and Quiksilver takes in more high-profile events, incuding the Quicksilver Bowlriders skateboard tour in Sweden and river and sea surfing in France, Germany and Spain. They also presented the 2008 Quiksilver ISA World Junior Surfing Championship.

Highly successful local Suzuki dealer, Dales of Newquay, will be present at the event and displaying a selection of vehicles from the current range including the Swift, SX4 1.9 DDiS 4GRIP and Grand Vitara 2.0-litre X-EC.

Patrick Schrömbgens, Suzuki’s Manager European Strategy and Coordination, said: “Quicksilver’s philosophy fits very well with Suzuki’s Way of Life; both companies attach great importance to the authenticity of their activities and sports like surfing underline perfectly our core brand value – excitement.”

The King of the Groms event at Newquay will take place on 5 and 6 July. For more information about the Suzuki-Quiksilver partnership go to www.suzuki-wayoflife.com.
