Renault Launches the First 3D Online Showroom

PARIS – June 25, 2008: Renault is giving Internet users a new sales communication interface as part of the upgrade of the www.renault.fr website and the creation of “Renault Universe”, the first completely 3D automotive website: www.univers.renault.fr

Nearly 80% of prospective buyers first browse the Internet before going into a dealership to buy a new vehicle. Renault now gives them an opportunity to view the full range in a virtual showroom before visiting a dealership. The new interface reflects Renault’s concern to remain clos to its customers, to provide quality service and give ensure that they are well-informed before they buy. With this user-friendly, interactive interface, Renault once again makes the customer the focus of its approach to quality.

“Renault Universe”, first 3D automotive website
Launched on June 17, Renault Universe enables users to browse a virtual 3D world promoting the brand and its products. The virtual universe comprises several areas: a showroom with a specific visual and sound environment for each model, an area on vehicle finance, and areas devoted to special events, Renault Used Cars and the dealer network.

Users will appreciate the extensive range and the variety of products as they browse through the vehicles. For example, in the Clio universe, they can use the discovery function to switch between Clio, Clio Estate, and Clio Campus. After rotating the vehicle 360°, visitors can watch a demo of functionalities, storage compartments, and a broad selection of accessories. All the technical information about the vehicles can be found in a separate section: versions, trim levels, engine types, and prices. Current promotional offers will be on the site as well. Users can also click to watch videos, including the latest Renault commercials.

The site offers downloadable vehicle brochures and a link to the sales site. In the upcoming months, Renault Universe will be enhanced with new features, like a section on the environment. The special events section for new vehicles will be entirely devoted to the Paris Motor Show as soon as it opens in October. Renault Universe is contributing to Renault’s new image. It is designed to be friendly and welcoming and fun to use.

Renault.fr has been redesigned to respond more effectively to the needs of customers and prospects
On June 12, Renault launched a new version of the www.renault.fr website. The site has been completely redesigned and streamlined to incorporate Renault’s new corporate values: human, reliable and enthusiastic. The models are shown in dynamic 3D and their best-selling features are highlighted. A new “advice and buying” section lets users compare models, simulate finance, and download brochures on accessories and new vehicles.

More than 12 million users already log on to the renault.fr website every year. Visitors can switch easily between the two complementary sites with many links between them.
