Indianapolis, – MECUM Auction will offer 150 pristine vintage signs

from the Christenholz Collection to the highest bidder at Dana Mecum’s Original Spring

Classic at the Indiana State Fairgrounds. Now in its 21st year, the spring auction was

recently relocated from Illinois to Indiana to be held one week prior to the Indianapolis

500. Mecum remarks, “Dave Christenholz has amassed one of the most impressive

collections of neon and vintage signs we’ve seen and we are privileged to offer them at

auction this week”

Christenholz, a noted collector of high-powered muscle cars, is offering a collection of

150 signs for sale along with 21 rare vehicles. Mecum reflects, “We are in the business of

selling Muscle, Corvette and other Collector Cars at auction and Automobilia is a

byproduct of this popular market”. In the classic car realm, the term Automobilia refers to

collectible items with a distinctly automotive theme such as neon signs displayed in car

dealerships decades ago.

Over the past ten years, prices have steadily climbed as automotive enthusiasts turn their

attention to vintage signs as a way of complimenting a collection, illuminating a garage,

or simply because they are beautiful works of art. Perfect examples such as those in the

Christenholz Collection are a rare find that has captured the eye of serious experts who

understand the value, rarity and significance of such a collection.
