BorgWarner's Largest Facility in China Produces Fuel Efficient Products in Environmentally Friendly Building

AUBURN HILLS, Mich., April 22 -- Propelled by growing demand in the rapidly expanding Chinese automotive market, BorgWarner Thermal Systems opened a new production facility at its campus in Ningbo, China, where it will produce fans, viscous fan drives, Visctronic(R) fan drives and water pumps. The new 194,000-square-foot (18,000-square-meter) operation is BorgWarner's largest in China, employing 260 people.

"BorgWarner's innovative technology and manufacturing excellence is driving the significant growth of our business in China," said Tim Manganello, BorgWarner Chairman and CEO. "Our newest manufacturing facility in Ningbo and future technical centers in China will support our product leadership in Asia and around the world." BorgWarner executives hosted customers, local government officials and other guests at the opening ceremony.

BorgWarner's product leadership position is driving technology solutions to improve fuel economy and reduce emissions. This commitment to protect the environment finds it's logical extension in this new production facility, which is designed as a "green building." State-of-the-art geothermal technology heats and cools the building and provides economical hot water by tapping into the more stable temperatures a few feet below the earth's surface. This environmentally friendly fuel source reduces energy costs by 30% - 60% without emitting carbon dioxide, a major contributor to air pollution.
