Largest Motorcycle Rally in West Returns to Colorado River

LAUGHLIN, Nev., April 10 -- More than 60,000 motorcycle enthusiasts will roar into Laughlin, Nev. April 23-27 for the 26th annual Laughlin River Run. The event, which brings thousands of people and nearly as many motorcycles to the Colorado River valley to enjoy concerts and attractions, is the largest ride-in motorcycle rally in the West.

In addition to the outdoor trade show exhibit along Casino Drive, activities include stunt shows, a traveling museum, the "River Run" to Oatman, Ariz. along historic Route 66, custom bike shows, the Miss River Run contest and a poker run. Motorcycle vendors, prize drawings and top-name live entertainment are also scheduled for this event.

This year's River Run Concert Series includes classic rock bands Foreigner (Aquarius Resort), Blue Oyster Cult (Riverside Resort Hotel & Casino), Molly Hatchet (Pioneer Hotel & Gambling Hall), Blackfoot (Pioneer Hotel & Gambling Hall), The Black Crowes (Harrah's Laughlin) and Joan Jett and the Blackhearts (Harrah's Laughlin).

"What makes the River Run so unique among bike rallies is that you can park your motorcycle when you arrive and never get back on it until you leave," said Joe O'Day, Laughlin River Run organizer. "The Laughlin resorts make a great backdrop -- first-rate accommodations, restaurants, casino gaming -- and then, when you walk outside, all of the top-name motorcycle manufacturers, distributors, tradeshow exhibits and entertainment in front of you."

Official River Run event registration starts Wednesday, April 23 in the Starview Showroom located on the second floor at Don Laughlin's Riverside Resort. The $45 fee includes an official event bandana, commemorative pin and patch, souvenir program and a chance to win a new 2008 Harley-Davidson motorcycle and merchandise certificates. For information or to purchase event passes, concert tickets or hotel packages, call Dal-Con Promotions at (949) 502-3434 or visit http://www.laughlinriverrun.com/.

The 2008 Laughlin River Run is presented by Hummer and sponsored by Harley-Davidson Southern California Dealers Association, the American Motorcyclist Association, Dunlop Elite Touring Series and the Laughlin Tourism Committee.

About DAL-CON PROMOTIONS

Dal-Con Promotions, Inc. is the originator and official promoter of the Laughlin River Run. Founder Dale Marschke was a franchised Harley-Davidson dealer in Southern California seeking a destination to ride to with his customers for a weekend of fun. Dale was a frequent visitor to the area once known as South Point, and became acquainted with Don Laughlin, who had re- opened a bankrupt casino in 1966. The town was soon renamed after him. Dale's frequent visits forged a relationship that set the stage for the first River Run in 1983, with just 426 participants. Since then, motorcycle enthusiasts have made the annual trek each April to Laughlin for what has become the largest motorcycle event on the West Coast, with over 70,000 participants meeting at the Colorado River to enjoy four days of fun in the sun.
