NEW YORK, N. Y. (March 20, 2008) – The Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car Series presented by Crown Royal Cask No. 16 will play a prominent role in the New York International Auto Show over the next ten days, including opening the auto show with a drag race down 11th Avenue in Manhattan.

Over 1.2 million people are expected to pass through the Javits Center in New York City, coming in contact with Grand-Am machines, beginning with the show’s opening ceremonies. At 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, the green flag waves on the event when Bryce Miller climbs behind the wheel of the No. 87 Farnbacher Loles Marquis Jet Porsche GT3 that he piloted throughout the 2007 season. Miller will race against a street version of the Porsche Cayman, offering Manhattan a taste of the Rolex Series.

Once inside, each attendee of the New York Auto Show will see more examples of the competitive Rolex Series and the Grand-Am KONI Challenge Series at the LeMay Museum booth. The No. 2 Childress-Howard Motorsports Pontiac Crawford and the No. 141 ICY/Phoenix Racing Subaru Legacy will sit side-by-side with storied antiques typically housed in the auto museum.

The Rolex Series returns to the track next week for the GAINSCO Grand Prix of Miami March 29 at Homestead-Miami Speedway. More than 45 Daytona Prototype and GT machines will race side-by-side, wheel-to-wheel around the 2.3 mile, 11-turn infield road course in the second round of the 2008 Rolex Series season.

The Grand American Road Racing Association, which operates and sanctions the Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car Series presented by Crown Royal Cask No. 16 and the Grand-Am KONI Challenge Series, is the premier road racing organization in North America. The 15-race 2008 Rolex Series and the 11-race KONI Challenge Series calendars deliver professional sports car racing to key markets throughout North America in addition to being televised in the United States and Canada on SPEED and distributed globally through ESPN International.
