California Auto Defect Law Firm Bisnar Chase Files Suit against Nissan Motor Company

LOS ANGELES--In the lawsuit filed in the Superior Court of California, Los Angeles County, Nissan Motor Company is being sued for having knowingly designed and manufactured the 2000 Nissan Frontier with defective and unsafe seats and seat backs. The Nissan Frontier’s driver’s seat broke, causing serious personal injury to Jaklin Mikhal Romine, rendering her a paraplegic. California automobile defect law firm Bisnar Chase filed the suit in Los Angeles County, California, on her behalf, Case Number: BC 386031.

On October 21, 2006, Jaklin Mikhal Romine was stopped at a red traffic light in her Nissan Frontier truck on eastbound Corson Street at Lake Avenue in Pasadena. While she was stopped, another vehicle hit her truck from behind, pushing her vehicle into the one in front of her. During the accident, Romine’s seat broke, catapulting her backwards into the rear seat cushions, collapsing her seat and forcing her head into the rear passenger compartment, resulting in major spinal, head and neck injuries to Romine. As a result, Romine is now a paraplegic.

“This is another serious personal injury that could have easily been prevented,” said Brian Chase, Romine’s attorney and partner in Bisnar Chase. “In Nissan’s sales literature they advertise 'innovation' and 'toughness' yet they ignored simple, low cost safety features that would have prevented this personal injury. Nissan deserves to be held accountable for Romine’s paralysis and I am going to see to it.”

In their lawsuit, Bisnar Chase is alleging that Nissan knew the front seats in its Frontier trucks were defective but failed to use simple and available methods to correct them. The suit alleges that the company callously disregarded the safety of its customers in order to increase its profits.

On behalf of Romine, Bisnar Chase is seeking compensation for medical expenses, loss of earnings and “pain & suffering.”
