Travis Kvapil:

How was your testing session at Fontana earlier this month?

“Testing went pretty well for us. We struggled a bit the first day, but we were able to learn a lot going into the second day of testing. We were able to get good speed out of our car during the final day of testing at Fontana and we left there feeling pretty optimistic about our program at the two-mile tracks.”

What are your thoughts heading into Fontana this weekend?

“I’m honestly really bummed about our finish at Daytona last week, but I feel that we’re going to run well over the next few weeks. I know that we have some really fast race cars lined up for California and Las Vegas. We’re still learning a lot as a team with this car and we’re developing things as we go along in the process. I feel that we’re in a good position to go out there and run competitively. Fontana is a race track where you can pass because it’s wide enough to be able to do that. Fontana has a lot of character, the track surface is rough, and it’s just a really nice speedway. I think that qualifying is going to be very important this week for us to be able to maintain track position during the race. I’m really excited about going into this weekend because I’m ready to run well and be able to prove ourselves.”

Quoting Yates Racing Crew Chief, Todd Parrott:

“I was pretty pleased with our test at Fontana a few weeks ago. We had a brand new car, so we learned a lot of things about it once we put it on the race track. By the end of the evening test on the first day, we had gotten the car to where we liked it. We’ve made several changes to the car between the test and now bringing that car to the track this weekend, based on what we learned at the test, but we’re looking forward to a great weekend of racing at Fontana.”
