TEAM REPORTS (FONTANA, CA.) - ROUSH/FENWAY COLIN BRAUN PRE-CALIFORNIA NOTES

Colin Braun on racing at California Speedway: “We had a good test with this truck in Atlanta last month. I think the California race is going to be a mix of Daytona and Atlanta. With the new restrictors there is going to be more drafting like Daytona, but the truck also needs to handle well like at an intermediate track. The truck needs to run well by itself, but also be able to draft like at Daytona. It could be a weird race. I don’t think it will be quite what everybody is used to at California. Being a rookie that might work to my advantage since it will be somewhat new for everyone. That might help level the playing field a bit.”

Crew Chief Mike Beam on racing at California Speedway: “I sure hope California is a better race for us than Daytona was. It just goes to show that you can do everything right, but still not get the result you deserve. Colin was doing a great job, but just had nowhere to go when that accident happened in front of him. We’ve got a good truck to race at California. It tested well at Atlanta last month and I know Colin is anxious to have a solid run.”

FAST FACT -Although he has no prior starts on the oval at California, Braun has two wins in three starts on the road course. He won two Formula Renault 2000 races in 2004 at the age of 15. He also ran the Rolex Grand Am race in 2005 where he finished 13th.
