TACH AUTO CENTRAL – February 1, 2008: Our man in the frozen north went deep under cover to capture this very heavily concealed Peugeot 3008. These photos are believed to be the first (among the first) day-light pics of the masked-car. A couple of European-based websites only have some pics taken at night (although we have to confess that the night shots look a lot like the day-time ones).

The Peugeot 3008 is presumed to be the carry-on vehicle to the 308, which is pictured below in two versions for reference. You can see how the black-draped 3008 has a very similar silhouette to the 308, especially the Hybride model.

It’s also the sister vehicle to what will be (or might be) the Citroen B8 SUV, that is also in its undercover state of evolution.

The 3008 will compete with Nissan's Quashqai and VW's Tiguan, among others. It’s expected to on the streets in 2009.

BACKGROUND ON THE 308
Peugeot’s 308 is the first Peugeot car of the new “8” generation. It will be available in five trim levels: Urban, S, Sport, SE and GT and powered by six engine options.

It will initially replace the Peugeot 307 hatchback range with the introduction of the five door model in September (2007) and the three door model in December 2007

As the replacement for the 307, it was only fitting that this new model should also continue the semi-tall architecture concept which first appeared with the introduction of the 307 in 2001. This design concept provides greater interior space, visibility, interior brightness and compact packaging. These were some of the strengths that made the 307 a worldwide success with over three million sales.

The 308, therefore, builds on the many strengths of the 307 but develops them even further in order to meet the high standards set for the project: an assertive style, comprehensive specification and high levels of quality, both perceived quality and “quality feel”.
