Volvo Cars Reports Sales Up 9.6 Percent for December

IRVINE, Calif., Jan. 3, 2008 -- Volvo Cars of North America, LLC. (VCNA) reports increased sales in the United States of 9.6 percent for December, compared to same period last year. For the year U.S. sales were down 8.4 percent, with a total of 106,354 units sold. *
Volvo sales of the all-new XC70 and V70 made a strong showing as those recently introduced models rolled into showrooms. The all-new S80 and the XC90 were also significant sales leaders.
"It's particularly gratifying that the media and consumers have responded favorably to our newest models," says Anne Belec, president & CEO, Volvo Cars of North America.
The C30, Volvo entry into the small car segment, was recently named to Automobile magazine's list of 2008 All-Stars, cited not only for its small car safety but its curb appeal as well as its performance. In addition, both the C30 and the all-new XC70 were representatives on the short list for North American Car of the Year and North American Truck of the Year, respectively.
For 2007, sales in Canada were down 10.5 percent partially attributed to an unfavorable exchange rate (down 28.7 for December), while year-to-date sales in Mexico were flat, with zero percent change from last year (down 31.9 percent for December). Overall, Volvo sales in North America were off 8.4 percent with 117,945 units sold.

VCNA provides marketing, sales, parts, service, technology and training support to Volvo automobile retailers in the United States, and oversees Volvo operations in Canada, Mexico and Puerto Rico.
