What Women Want: LeaseTrader.com Survey Finds Women Want Their Space

Sunroof Listed as Most Overrated Car Feature

MIAMI, Oct. 16 -- Turns out, women still don't have gadget envy when it comes to car features. LeaseTrader.com, the company that helps people transfer car leases, recently polled a number of its female customers on their favorite car features. And despite all the recent hype surrounding everything technology from iPhones to WiMAX, women want functionality in a car.

The highest percentage of those women surveyed want fold-down back seats that provide more storage area. In fact, more than half of all women polled - 62 percent - listed this is their number one choice.

Also proving the theory that women would rather stop and ask for directions, GPS technology was the top choice for just 13 percent of all women surveyed.

"LeaseTrader.com continues to attract an increasing number of female users simply because they love having options in what they drive," said Sergio Stiberman, CEO and founder of LeaseTrader.com. "Although the results covered a wide variety of car features, it's interesting to note that women want functionality over technology in their cars."

Following are the top five features women enjoy in a car, according to
  female LeaseTrader.com customers:

  1. Fold-down back seats for more storage room
  2. Bluetooth capability
  3. MP3/iPod connectivity
  4. Automatic open/close hatchback
  5. GPS technology

Conversely, women who participated in the survey said the sunroof is the most overrated feature found in a car.

Melody Fund, a Miami Beach (Fla.) resident and LeaseTrader.com customer, listed fold-down back seats as a feature she'd like to have in a car. "More storage space means I would have more options with my car," said Ms. Fund, who currently drives a Volvo sedan.
