RICHMOND, VA - October 15, 2007: CarMax, Inc., the nation's largest retailer of used cars, has won the Torch Award for Marketplace Ethics from the Greater Maryland Better Business Bureau (BBB). Maryland CarMax stores that received this honor are located in Laurel and White Marsh.

"Winning the prestigious Torch Award is a tremendous honor for CarMax," said Dan Johnston, vice president of the Mid-Atlantic region of CarMax. "Our company was founded on integrity and our practices begin with the outstanding associates we employ."

The Greater Maryland BBB Torch Award honors businesses that demonstrate exceedingly high standards of behavior towards customers, employees, shareholders, and communities; adherence to truthful and honorable advertising and sales practices; and an earned reputation for noteworthy contributions to their industries and their communities in which they do business.

Maryland CarMax associates are proud to support their communities by giving to organizations such as Toys for Tots; last December associates donated more than $2,000 worth of toys. Associates also held a food drive for the Maryland Food Bank and donated various food items during the holiday season.

CarMax offers consumers a no-hassle, no-haggle car-buying experience and a broad selection of high-quality used vehicles. CarMax guarantees the quality of its cars, does not sell flood- or frame-damaged vehicles, and guarantees a clean title and accurate odometer readings on its cars. All vehicles are thoroughly inspected and reconditioned, and CarMax offers a five-day, money-back guarantee and a limited 30-day warranty.
