Annual Report, Interstate Travel Advisory, Other Features Added to Site

HARRISBURG, Pa., Sept. 6, 2007; The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation announced today that an updated crash facts and statistics report, featuring a statistical review of reportable motor vehicle crashes for 2006, is now available online at www.dot.state.pa.us.

The crash facts book is divided into topics, including general crash data, crashes by motor vehicle type, alcohol-related crashes and crashes by county.

The figures used in the report are compiled from traffic crash reports submitted to PennDOT by law enforcement authorities.

PennDOT recently introduced several other features to its Web site. The department's 2006 annual report, which provides general information about PennDOT, as well as some of its major initiatives, is now available online. PennDOT also recently added an "Interstate Travel Advisories" feature, which is designed to keep motorists updated about interstate closures or major delays due to traffic incidents, weather, construction or maintenance activities.

Since early August, PennDOT has added condition and sufficiency rating information for approximately 25,000 state-maintained bridges and 6,400 locally-owned bridges.
