Ziff Davis Announces New Findings in 1UP Network Automotive Study

NEW YORK, Aug. 30, 2007 -- Ziff Davis Game Group announced today the results of an automotive study, fielded online among 1UP Network users by a third-party, Surveynetwork.com , in July 2007.

The report's findings, which will be presented in a more detailed report by ConStat, reflect emerging automotive trends amongst the gaming demographic. The report garnered responses from 53 percent of the 18 - 34 age bracket, the most prevalent age group of gamers, 25 percent from 35 - 44, and 22 percent from persons 45 and above.

"The auto industry has been in a transitional, volatile position in the past few years with ever-evolving, competitive technological advancements and the increase of 'green' initiatives," states Rey Ledda, VP, Marketing, Events, and Research. "Gamers have proven themselves to be a significant consumer demographic. Conducting such a poll with 1UP Network users allows us to gain and provide others with a better understanding of vehicle buying patterns among the gaming population, have a better sense of who these consumers are, and help determine what they're looking for in automobiles."

  Some survey highlights include:

-- Gamers make up a large auto-owning demographic, with 73 percent owning
2 or more vehicles within their household (61 percent 4-door Sedan, 31
percent SUV, 17 percent 2-door Sedan).

-- Although the majority of gamers currently own American made cars (24
percent Ford, 18 percent Chevrolet), 79 percent are planning on buying
an import for their next car (41 percent Toyota, 41 percent Honda, 25
     percent Nissan).

-- Environmentally-conscience automobiles are on the rise within the
gaming population, as they plan their next vehicle purchase (58 percent
plan on purchasing a new car within the next 12 months), with 36
percent intending on buying a hybrid car.

-- Gamers want vehicles that are technologically advanced, with an
overwhelming 82 percent looking forward to new technologies being
     featured in future vehicles.

What they would consider paying extra for?
        -- MP3 plug-in (72 percent)
        -- GPS (61 percent)
        -- Surround Sound (59 percent)

-- Gamers are active information seekers and influencers, with many
researching vehicles online before they buy and giving advice to other
potential buyers about brands of vehicles.
