SHANGHAI - July 30, 2007: According to recent news, Dongfeng Nissan plans to introduce two new models, the Nissan SUV Qashqai and the X-Trail, which will be made in Nissan's joint venture plant in 2008.

The two newly developed models were launched in the European market and have great sales in the market. The two new SUV are different SUV segment models with different market prices. Once the two new models are made in China, the company will rename the two models.

The plan is to launch the Qashqai by the beginning of next year. It is set to debut at the Guangzhou Auto Show with a market price of 150,000 yuan.

The plan is to launch the X-Trail by the second half of next year. With the production localized, exporting the two models from overseas markets will be halted.

Due to the lack of 2.5L China-made engines, the two new models will be powered by original engines produced by overseas markets.

Since its launch in February, 45,000 units of Qashiqai's have been sold in the overseas market. However, because its production capacity couldn¡¯t meet the market demand, Nissan transferred some of its production capacity to other plants in Japan.

According to Dongfeng Nissan's plan, the group will introduce other models such as the MAXIMA and MURANO.

Even though Dongfeng Nissan's hot products haven't met their expected sales target for the first half of this year, Dongfeng Nissan plans to boost its annual sales target to 400,000 units.
