ORLANDO, FL - July 30, 2007: Weather was a factor this past Saturday at the Orlando edition of the Chevy-powered Rev It Up 2007 national performance driving school and racing competition, but the competition remained hot. Rev It Up 2007 is designed to provide auto enthusiasts across the country the chance to enhance their driving skills and compete for prizes, including the grand prize awarded to the Rev It Up 2007 National Champion - a 430-horsepower 2008 Chevrolet Corvette. Christopher Ramey, of Houston, remains the leader in that national points race with his score of 826.

“I’ve competed in Rev It Up previously, but the new Corvette shootout format was really intense, especially against a very tough field of some very accomplished racers,” said Shields, a 35 year amateur motorsports competitor. “The night format was past my bedtime, but it was definitely worth it!”

Shields won the night and weekend after qualifying 24th out of the 25 fastest racers in identically prepared Chevrolet Cobalts to enter the exciting daily Corvette shootout. Shields also bested the ten Rev It Up 2007 Corvette shootout contestants on Friday night by a large margin.

Other weekend winners included Orlando runner up Ian Stewart of Orlando, who won a portable XM satellite radio. Individual class winners Ian Stewart (Pro), Matthew Hodges of Oviedo, Fla. (Club), Daniel Diorio of Orlando (Novice), Kevin Demers of Zephyr Hills, Fla. (Just For Fun) were each awarded Piloti driving shoes and Gatorz sunglasses. In the Reaction/Traction Competition, Ken Maturo of North Port, Fla. (Friday) and Narindra Persaud of Orlando (Saturday) took top honors.

The penultimate stop for “Rev It Up 2007: Where Drivers Come To Play” will take place at the Old Bridge Township Raceway Park in Englishtown, New Jersey on Friday, August 3 and Saturday, August 4, 2007. Updated information, event locations and registration forms are available at www.revitup.com.
