Bonhams & Butterfields revs up for its Quail Lodge summer sale.

25 June 2007 - San Francisco - Over two dozen American muscle cars from a single private collection will be offered for sale at the world-renowned Bonhams & Butterfields annual Quail Lodge auction in Carmel, California this summer.

Consisting of, among others, no fewer than 12 Corvettes (nine of them Stingrays), five Chevelles, three Camaros and three Mustangs, the collection's highlights include:

• 1970 Plymouth Hemi Cuda convertible, 1 of 14 ever made and 1 of only 9 with automatic transmission, estimated to sell at $750,000-$1,000,000.
• 1970 Dodge Challenger R/T convertible, 1 of 9 ever made, estimated to sell at $500,000-$700,000.
• 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle LS6 SS convertible, number 17 of 20 made and 1 of 6 with 4-speed manual transmission, estimated to sell at $400,000-$600,000.
• 1969 Chevrolet Camaro COPO, Chevy's equivalent of the Skunk Works, estimated to sell at $300,000-$400,000.
• 1967 Ford Shelby Mustang GT500 Fastback, estimated to sell at $225,000-$275,000.

"With their raw power and styling, muscle cars represent the epitome of the American automotive way of life," says Mark Osborne, head of Bonhams' U.S. motoring department. "Values have been steadily increasing for some time now and we expect to see very strong interest in this unique and highly important collection."

In all, this considerable assemblage of cars is expected to fetch as much as $6-million when it crosses the auction block, and it is just one of the many collections consigned to Bonhams' sale at "The Quail." Other cars will include European and American roadsters, tourers and Formula 1 cars, to name but a few.

The 10th annual Bonhams auction at Quail Lodge will take place Friday, August 17th during the 10-Day Monterey Peninsula Car Week, also known as Pebble Beach Week. The opportunity to consign cars in the auction is still available and interested owners should contact Mark Osborne, Motoring Department Director, at 415-391-4000.

Buyers interested in registering to bid, either in person or remotely, may call 415-861-7500. Illustrated catalogs may be viewed online in the weeks preceding the sale and purchased at www.Bonhams.com/us, or by calling 800-223-2854.
