CANTON, Ohio, May 2 -- The All-new Stark County Auto Show, held May 19 - 20, 2007 on the grounds of the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio, offers a look at hundreds of new cars and discounted entrance into the hall of football stars.

"We're very pleased that The Stark County Area Dealers Association has selected the Pro Football Hall of Fame as the site for the All-new Stark County Auto Show. It's a fitting choice," said Steve Perry, president/executive director, Pro Football Hall of Fame. "After all, it was in an automobile showroom in downtown Canton that the National Football League was born."

On Sept. 17, 1920, a group of men gathered in Canton at the Hupmobile showroom of Ralph Hay, owner of the hometown Canton Bulldogs. The result of the meeting was the birth of the NFL. Though the building has been razed, the site is now identified with a historical marker.

Admission and parking are free to the two-day, outdoor Auto Show. Discount coupons to the Pro Football Hall of Fame are available at participating new-car and truck dealerships and also at the event.

Auto Show hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, May 19; and 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, May 20. Admission and parking to the All-new Stark County Auto Show are free!

Pro Football Hall of Fame Museum Store Tent Sale

For the first time ever, the Pro Football Hall of Fame's Museum Store is having a retail tent sale during the All-new Stark County Auto Show from May 19-20, 2007. The tent sale will feature merchandise from several NFL teams to Pro Football Hall of Fame gear, gifts, novelties and one-of-a-kind collectibles.

Safe Communities' "Seat Belt Challenge" at the Auto Show

Teams of eight -- four football players and four cheerleaders -- from 18 high schools in Stark County will participate in the Safe Communities' "Seat Belt Challenge" on Saturday, May 19 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. during the All-new Stark County Auto Show. It's the kick-off event for the national "Click It or Ticket" seat belt campaign, which runs from May 21 to June 3.

The Seat Belt Challenge is an obstacle course designed to increase awareness among high school students of the life-saving ability of seat belts. Additionally, adult teams from area law enforcement agencies will compete. Prizes will be awarded to the fastest high school teams in a timed competition.

Motor vehicle crashes are the leading cause of death for 15-20 year-olds, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. One of the biggest reasons for high teen driver and passenger fatalities is low seat belt use.

"We really try to make this an event that is attractive to teenagers," said Kathy Paris, public health educator, Canton City Health Department. "The day is fun, but the message is serious. Seat belts do save lives!"

Because alcohol use is also a threat to teenage drivers, the Stark County OVI Task Force is a partner in the event. Participating high school teams will have two members wear Fatal Vision Goggles in the competition to demonstrate to the auto show crowds (and themselves) how alcohol impairs their abilities.

"You're asking for serious trouble if you drink and drive," Paris added.

Partners in the event include the Pro Football Hall of Fame, Aultman Hospital, Canton City Health Department, OVI Task Force, Greater Cleveland Automobile Dealers' Association, Stark County Area Dealers Association, Rock 106.9, Esber Beverage Company, Pizza Hut and Armed Forces Recruitment Center.
